For my billboard project, I wanted to approach it in a way that I hadn’t really approached any school project of the past before. Instead of meticulously planning out and having a clear vision of what the product would look like, I decided to jump straight into things without a clear plan. I knew that I wanted to work non-digitally and then figure out a way to incorporate my drawings and paintings into a billboard design and that I didn’t want there to be a clear theme. I wanted each billboard to feel more artsy so that I would be able to work with more creative freedoms. I began by creating a watercolor painting of a woman and monster and then scanned it into my computer, added text and messed around with overlays. When it was done, I had created a Halloween themed billboard. Similarly, for the other one, I started by drawing and inking a CAD-inspired drawing of a man with machinery and mechanical parts inside of his head. When I was done, I moved it into my computer where I moved things around and changed the colors, quickly putting together another billboard. Working in this way turned out to be very satisfying and led me to create to pieces that I am very proud of.
