For this project, I decided to make a line of oral care products. Instead of being good tasting mouthwash and toothpaste, I decided that the brand would revolve around the idea of being a bad tasting version that parents could use as a form of punishment. “Guaranteed to remove the naughty words from your child’s mouth!” The term sailor’s mouth refers to using curse words similarly to what my brand would hope to get rid of, so I decided it would be interesting to make the brand pirate themed. I started out by creating a mascot. This mascot was an oral hygiene themed pirate. I then created a logo as well as several other design elements that I planned on using for my three different packages. Instead of creating three unique designs for each different package, I decided to choose three differently shaped packages and challenge myself to use the same design elements in unique ways that made each of the packages feel like they fit together in a group but were also distinctively their own. I also decided to stick with pirate themed flavors: pile o’ sardines, bunch o’ sand, and mouthful o’ sea water.
