For this project I decided to create a book cover and two-page spread for the book The Odyssey. Despite it being one of the oldest literary tales of all time, I decided to take a more modern approach to telling the story. I chose to depict the characters and stories in the form of a graphic novel, taking creative liberties to incorporate more humor into the legends. As well as never really creating anything like this before, I also decided to push myself out of my comfort zone and try to work exclusively from a predetermined color palette. I thought this would be trickier to do, and it was at times, but ultimately it created an interested theme throughout each panel that hugely contributed to the pieces overall success. On the cover, I decided to depict the part of The Odyssey when Odysseus evades the many headed sea monster, Scylla. The back cover features some of the most prominent characters in the book in a cartoony and humorous manner. The two page spread highlights the story of Polyphemus and how he is outsmarted by Odysseus and his crew.
