For this project, the original idea was to combine sculpture and a found object to make a piece that told a story. I utilized a baseball and sculpted the figure getting squashed by it out of plasticine. I then made a silicone mold and casted several more sculptures. The image below highlights this process; going from plasticine sculpture to plaster casting to painted final figure. Ultimately, I felt that the most interesting story being told by the sculpture wasn’t necessarily the story of the man who got hit by a ball, but rather the process and the steps that were taken to create the final figure.
